Lillis O’Malley firm attorneys Daniel L. Manning and Joel B. Templeman obtained a Linn County jury verdict in excess of $1.7 million dollars in favor of landowners in “CR Collins LLC v. City of Cedar Rapids Iowa, et al,” Linn County District Court Case No. CVCV084115.
The case involved an appeal of damages awarded by the Linn County Compensation Commission for a condemnation of property owned by CR Collins LLC in the Collins Crossing shopping center in Cedar Rapids, Iowa. In September 2015, the Linn County Compensation Commission awarded damages of $304,000.00 to CR Collins LLC for the City’s condemnation of their property.
Manning and Templeman were retained by the landowners to appeal the County Compensation Commission award to Linn County District Court. The case was heard from December 4-7, 2017, in Linn County District Court. After deliberations, a jury determined that the damages CR Collins LLC incurred as a result of the condemnation was in excess of 1.7 million dollars. The final verdict in favor of the landowners, CR Collins LLC, was for $1,710,000.00.
